Author Interview: Jodi Meadows - author of Incarnate

Author Interview
Jodi Meadows
Author of Incarnate

Today, Fandom Monthly Magazine had the oppurtunity to interview author of Incarnate!

About Jodi: Jodi Meadows lives and writes in the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia, with her husband, a cat, and an alarming number of ferrets. She is a confessed book addict, and has wanted to be a writer ever since she decided against becoming an astronaut.

About IncarnateAna is new. For thousands of years in Range, a million souls have been reincarnated over and over, keeping their memories and experiences from previous lifetimes. When Ana was born, one of those souls vanished, and no one knows why.

When Ana travels to the capital city of Heart, its citizens treat her as a nosoul, suspicious and afraid of what her presence means. When dragons and sylph attack the city, is Ana to blame?

Ana needs to uncover the mistake that gave her someone else's life, but will her quest threaten the peace of Heart and destroy the promise of reincarnation for all?

FMM: What are you currently writing?
JM: I'm currently writing the second book in my forthcoming ORPHAN QUEEN duology.

FMM: Do you ever experience writer's block? If so, how do you manage?
JM: Mostly I get laziness, so that's always my first question when I think I might have writer's block: am I just being lazy? But if I actually am having some kind of block, it's usually because I've made a wrong decision about where the story needs to go, so I need to backtrack and figure it out before I can continue. More rarely, it's because I've burned myself out from stress and overworking, and I have to take a break to rest and recharge. It's not always easy realizing when that is my trouble. Usually because it's laziness. :)

FMM: Do any authors inspire you? (role models)
JM: Absolutely! I have a lot of inspirational author friends, but my go-to author for inspiration is Robin McKinley. I just love her writing so much.

FMM: Do you draw inspiration from your real life into your books?

JM: I think most writers would have to say yes to this one! All my stories are informed by my real life. I may not have experienced things like dragon attacks or being chased through a city by someone scary (thank goodness!), but I do know what it's like to be scared, or new, or in love, or whatever. Going out and having real-life experiences is what helps me learn, grow, and empathize more with my characters.

FMM: What are you currently reading?

JM: Currently I'm reading SCORCHED by Mari Mancusi, but by the time this interview goes up, I will likely be on to a new book! (Reading: super important for writers.)

Thank you Jodi for your time! We really appreciate it! Have you read Jodi's book Incarnate? If yes, read the other books in the Newsoul series!
